Monkey App privacy policy

What is collected when you use Monkey App, what it is used for, and what you can ask us to do with it.

In one paragraph

  • Calls are not recorded.
  • Messages are not read as a matter of routine — only a part that has been reported.
  • Personal data is not sold.
  • Card numbers are not stored here.
  • You can delete your account, and asking what is held on you is free.

What is collected

What you give us. The details you use to create and run an account — a sign-in identifier, anything you choose to put on your profile, and the messages you send. If you sign in through another service, that service passes on a basic identifier and the details you approve; it does not pass on your password.

What using the service produces. Records of calls and purchases: who was on a call, when it started and how long it lasted, and what coins were spent. That is the call record, not the call — the video and audio are not recorded.

What your device reports. Browser and device type, operating system, language, and the IP address your connection comes from, which gives an approximate location at city or country level. Nothing here asks for precise GPS location.

What you pay with. A record that a purchase happened, and what it was for. The card or wallet details themselves go to the payment provider and are not kept on this service.

What it is used for

  • Running the service: signing you in, connecting a call, spending and topping up coins.
  • Billing: charging for calls correctly and answering questions about a charge.
  • Safety: acting on reports and blocks, and finding accounts that break the rules or abuse the free trial allowance.
  • Keeping it working: diagnosing faults, measuring which parts of the site are used, and fixing what is slow or broken.
  • Legal obligations: keeping the records the law requires and answering lawful requests.

Cookies and similar storage

Some storage is unavoidable: it keeps you signed in, remembers your language, and protects the service from automated abuse. The rest measures how the site performs and how it is used, in aggregate. Your browser can clear this at any time — signing back in will be the only visible effect.

Who else sees it

Personal data is not sold, and it is not handed to advertisers. It is shared in four situations: with the providers who run parts of the service on our behalf (hosting, payments, analytics, delivery of the video connection), and only what they need; when the law or a valid legal request requires it; if the service is ever transferred to another owner, in which case this policy travels with it; and as aggregated numbers that cannot identify anyone.

The other person on a call sees whatever you show and say. That is not sharing by us — but it is worth remembering that nothing on a video call can be taken back afterwards.

How long it is kept

There is no fixed calendar period, because different records are needed for different lengths of time. Account and profile data is kept while the account exists. Payment and call records are kept as long as they are needed to answer a billing dispute and to meet accounting and tax obligations. Safety records — reports, blocks, and the reasons an account was removed — are kept for as long as they are needed to keep a removed account from coming back, which is why a removal is permanent.

Your choices

  • See it. Ask for a copy of what is held about your account.
  • Fix it. Correct anything inaccurate, directly in your account where possible.
  • Delete it. Delete your account. Records that have to be kept for legal or anti-abuse reasons stay, in the narrowest form that serves that purpose.
  • Withdraw permissions. Camera and microphone access are granted by your browser and can be taken back there at any time.
  • Object. If you think data is being used in a way you did not expect, say so and it will be looked at.

Depending on where you live, some of these are legal rights rather than courtesies. Either way they are honoured, and asking costs nothing.

Age

This service is for people aged 18 and over. It is not designed for children and is not knowingly used by them. If an account is found to belong to someone under 18 it is removed and its data is deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who sees it, the date at the top changes and the change is described here rather than slipped in quietly.

Asking about your data

Write to [email protected] from the address on the account, and say what you want — a copy, a correction, or deletion.
