Monkey App not working
Find your symptom, work down its list in order. The first two items fix most of it, and none of this needs a support ticket.
Try these two first
- Open the page in Safari or Chrome directly, not inside another app's built-in browser. This alone fixes most camera failures.
- Close anything else using your camera — a second tab in a call, a meeting client, a camera app left open. Only one program can hold a camera at a time.
The camera will not turn on
This is the most common one by a distance, and it is almost never the site. Work down in order and stop when it works.
- You are inside another app's browser. Links opened from a messaging app, a social app or an email client run in a stripped-down browser that often blocks camera access entirely. Tap the menu and choose "open in browser", or paste the address into Safari or Chrome yourself.
- Something else has the camera. Close other tabs that were in a call, quit meeting software, and close the camera app. On a phone, swipe the app away rather than just going to the home screen.
- You said no once and the browser remembered. Browsers store a refusal permanently. Open the site's settings — on iPhone Safari, the "aA" menu in the address bar; on Chrome, the padlock or the sliders icon — and set camera and microphone back to Ask or Allow. Then reload.
- The operating system is blocking it above the browser. On iPhone: Settings → Safari → Camera. On Android: Settings → Apps → Chrome → Permissions. On a Mac: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera, and make sure your browser is ticked.
- The tab has been open too long. A page that has been sitting for hours can lose its device handles. Close it and open a fresh one.
- Restart the browser properly. On a phone, closing the tab is not the same as quitting the browser.
To see whether the problem is fixed without starting a call, use the camera check on the homepage. It runs entirely on your own device — it records nothing, uploads nothing, and stops when you close it. Run the camera check.
They cannot hear me, or I cannot hear them
- Check the mute control in the call first. It is the answer more often than anything below it.
- Microphone permission is separate from camera permission. A browser can have one and not the other; check both in the same settings panel.
- Audio is going somewhere you are not. Bluetooth headphones in a drawer, a car system, a TV. Disconnect them and try again.
- If you can hear them but they cannot hear you, it is your microphone — permission or mute. If nobody can hear anybody, it is the connection, not the audio.
Calls connect and then drop
A call that starts and dies after a few seconds is usually one of three things, and they are easy to tell apart.
- Upload bandwidth. Video calling needs steady upload, which streaming does not — which is why Netflix can be perfect while a call falls over. Get closer to the router, stop other downloads and uploads, or switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- The balance ran out. A call that ends abruptly part-way through is often this rather than a fault. Coins are spent as the call runs, and when they are gone the call ends instead of continuing on credit. See what a call costs.
- The other person left. There is no fault to fix here — people end calls for ordinary reasons. Six reasons calls end early covers which is which.
The page will not load at all
- Reload with the cache cleared — hold the reload button on desktop, or clear the site's data in browser settings on a phone.
- Try a different network. Some office, school and hotel networks block the traffic video calls use, even when ordinary web pages load fine.
- Turn off a VPN or content blocker and reload. Both can interfere with the connection a call needs.
- Check the address. The site is monkeyapp.online. A page that looks similar but behaves differently is not this one.
Sign-in and account problems
- The sign-in email did not arrive. Check spam, then check the address on the account is one you can actually read.
- It signs you out repeatedly. Private or incognito windows discard the session when you close them, and some privacy settings clear site data on every visit.
- Coins are missing after a purchase. Give it a minute, then reload. If they are still missing, write to support with the date and the amount.
Nothing here worked
Write to support and include the four things that make a problem findable: the device and browser, what you were doing, roughly when, and which of the steps above you already tried. Never include a password.
